León is a city in the north of Spain . In the old centre , you see a big church . Outside , it is all stone . Go in , stand in the middle and look up . The walls are almost all glass . The glass is red , blue and gold . Builders started this church around 1205 . Most of the work ended in 1302 . The builders wanted a lot of light . So they made the stone walls very thin . Then they filled them with big windows . There are many windows here . Some are tall , and some are small and round . Three of them are very big and round . People call them rose windows . The windows tell stories , too . Low on the walls , you see plants , farm work and kings . These colours are dark and cool . High on the walls , you see saints in red , blue and gold . The glass is not all from one time . Some of it is from the 1200s . People made new glass for hundreds of years . The sun moves , and the light inside changes . The church looks different in the morning and in the afternoon . Here , the stone holds the glass , and the glass holds the light .
